In this edition to OK to Make Money Online, getting your site or blog indexed in the Google search engine is our main task. No one can guarantee that Google will index your site but if we following the practices used online we will have a good chance to getting you indexed.
So, look at the best practices outlined so far:
1) A proper Blogger account or domain name has been set up and Blogger, Wordpress or Joomla is your blog software.
2) You have your keyword(s) in the title.
3) You have made a proper About Page that includes your keyword(s).
4) You have copy and revised Google's Privacy Page example or copied my Privacy Page and revised it.
5) Make sure your sitemap is installed and has the right links to your site and Google logged no errors.
6) Two or more original articles are posted on your site using your keywords.
7) You have multiple tags per article, at least 10 relevant tags.
8) When using WordPress, you have multiple categories.
9) You have installed your Technorati link and claimed your site.
Getting indexed in the Google search engine is our next task. If you are not indexed, it will be very difficult for someone to find you using the Google search engine. So how are you indexed? After you have polished up your Blog and have registered with Adsense it's time to get you indexed.
We set up your Adsense account in our previous article, "Make Money - Adsense," so log in to the account we created. Start by selecting the "Resources" tab near the top. On this page, select the "Webmaster guidelines" under the Reference heading. You will now be taken to the "Webmasters/Site owners Help" page, under the heading "When your site is ready," you will see a hyperlink to addurl.html. Click the addurl.html hyperlink.
On the page titled "Add your URL to Google," enter your blog's URL, making sure to add a comment and your keyword. Next, enter the squiggly letters and press the "Add URL" button. Don't worry, if you get the squiggly letters wrong just re-enter the text when the screen is redisplayed.
After entering the squiggly letters correctly, you should see something like "Thank you, Your site URL has been successfully added to our list of URLs to crawl. Please note that we do not add all submitted URLs to our index, and we cannot make any predictions or guarantees about when or if they will appear"
On the next OK to Make Money online we will take a look at SEO for your blog or website.
